CFD Simulation of Electrostatic Precipitator

Responsibility: In this project, the client wanted to obtain design modifications in 2 symmetric ESPs in order to operate their Power plant established at Egypt, so that it should be meeting the norms. So, a CFD model was created and approved by the client.
This model had a duct with central entry. The inlet ducts were having around 7 bends. All the bends were having high velocities. So splitters were introduced along the bends to reduce the velocities at the bends. Also, the flow was not uniformly introduced in the cones initially. This was made uniform by putting splitters inside the cone. And finally, the GD screens were iterated with various combinations of porosities, achieving the RMS distribution inside the ESP as required i.e below 20% at every Fields Inlet’s and Last field’s outlet.

CFD Analysis of Duct:

A duct attached to the inlet of a fan carrying fluid to the cement mill was analyzed. The Duct was getting eroded because of high velocities inside the duct in the areas of bends. So Flow was optimized by providing appropriate baffles.

CFD Simulation of Cyclone Separator:

Single Phase Steady state simulation with Particle tracking using Discrete phase modeling was carried out in order to calculate the efficiency of the cyclone separator for a Cement Industry,
CFD Simulation of Warehouse:
In order to make the components in the Warehouse accessible to air coming from HVAC duct, the client wanted the CFD analysis in order to map flow and temperature distribution across the warehouse. So single-phase steady state flow thermal simulation was done for the same.

CFD Simulation of Particle Impingement Test Erosion Analysis:

The objective was to validate the results of the computational analysis with Experimental results. The test specimen at two different positions was to be checked for its erosion rate with the abrasive particles by impingement test.
