H2-Air Deflagration and Deflagration to Detonation Transition Model

Objective: H2-air deflagration and deflagration to detonation transition model
Methodology:
1. A critical literature review of the physics behind the turbulent combustion and instability of the flames derived from DNS and experiments.
2. Implementing the selected models at Ansys-Fluent UDF to construct the deflagration model. Different physical problems are involved in this step including hydrodynamic instability, hydrodynamic-turbulence interaction, turbulence-flame interaction, flame-generated turbulence.
3. Performing simulations to test the model against experiments.
4. Determine the effectiveness of the model based on the results to choose the final model.
Outcomes: The project is still ongoing, and it is near to its end. The final form of the model is planned to be published in a journal.

Objective: Perform coal combustion in a furnace and validate the results
The Approach: The computational model is limited to boiler furnace with tangential fire disposition of burner and the platen superheater in the upper part of the furnace.
Conclusion: The results were validated and found to be consistent with actual test results.
