TPA (transfer path analysis) on double clamped beam with centrifugal pump

My undergraduate thesis about TPA (transfer path analysis) on a double clamped beam with a centrifugal pump as a source. The goal of my research is to know the vibration pattern via operational force on beam due to vibration pump as feature damage detection. My research methodology use simulation ANSYS(finite element software) and experimental with fast Fourier transform(FFT) and TPA method appropriate to ISO 13373-1 (condition monitoring of rotating machine). The material of the beam is ASTM A36. The result shows that the feature damage on a pump-beam system can be detected using the TPA method.
 
 

Pin Fatigue Life Analysis by Ansys Software 

 

1. FEA Simulation objective:
• To analyze the fatigue failure life cycle of resonation pin.
 
2. FEA Simulation Methodology and Approach:
  • Created assembly model using 3rd party software (solid works)
  • Assin material of each part from engineering database
  • Generate mesh for model
  • Assign fixed support and force that acting on the pin and the direction
  • Analyse the model with equivalent stress and total deformation of the system
  • Assign safety factor analysis
  • Assign the oscillating pin design life cycle 1e+06

3. Outcome & Conclusion

  • The maximum fatigue life cycle which can obtain is 60000cycle and the safety factor minimum value is 3 and max is 15.
  • The conclusion derived from the simulation studies is to achieve the least 1000000 life cycle the pin needed to be size up pin dimension from 3 to 15.
 
 

Progressive failure of a woven hybrid composite RVE

This simulation studies the in-plane failure mechanism of hybrid woven composite with interweaving carbon yarns and UHMWPE yarns. A mesoscale RVE model is established to provide insights into the local mechanical responses. The yarns are modeled as transversely isotropic with progressive damage laws. The epoxy resin pocket is modeled as an elastoplastic material with isotropic damage. The damage model is implemented into a user-defined material model (VUMAT) in the FE code Abaqus/Explicit. The proposed model is correlated and validated using local strain distributions and global effective stress-strain responses. The predicted surface strain contours correlated reasonably well with the DIC results. The damage morphology of each constituent observed in the experiment shows good agreement with the prediction of the FE model.
