Simulation of Protective Cushion Barrier

For this FEA Consultancy project, the client engaged our CAE Consulting engineers for our structural engineering services.
Simulation Objective: Maximization of Barrier protection by cushion materials through the use of FEA Analysis.
Methodology:
1. Ball impact testing for concrete wall protected by different cushion materials;
2. Simulate the load impact test in LS-DYNA;
3. Structurally Optimize the thickness of cushion materials;
4. Simulate the protect effect under the debris flow impact through FEA simulation.
Conclusion:
Design optimization of the barrier protection was carried out by finding the best cushion material and proper thickness for concrete barrier under debris flow.

Strengthening & Reinforcement of Beam-Column Joint for Old Buildings

For this project, the client engaged our structural engineering consultants for our stress engineering services.
Simulation Objective:  Beam column joint strengthening of old buildings using commercially available FEA software.
Methodology:
1. Cyclic load test for Beam column joint strengthened by different size chamfers;
2. Analyze the failure process in ABAQUS and WCOMD (a FEM modeling software for reinforced concrete structure);
3. Implemented structural optimization by optimizing the chamfer size.
Conclusion:
The chamfer can strengthen the structure which is lack of core reinforcement effectively. The efficiency is influenced by the bonding of chamfer and structure.
Topology optimization in MATLAB was carried out by our FEA Consultant for this structural optimization project.

Packaging Topology Optimization of Existing Circulations of Disinfected gas in Perishable Food Items

For this CFD consulting project, our client is in the supply chain management business. Our CFD consultants were engaged to make recommendations on improving food packaging using CFD simulation software for CFD analysis.
Simulation Objective:
The Structural Analysis simulations were based on the packaging topology optimization and CFD flow analysis of existing circulations of disinfected gas in perishable food items. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for various package designs with experimental data.
Methodology: A CFD model was created in Matlab and Ansys Fluent on high-performance computing center for faster optimization of computational fluid dynamics simulations results.
Outcome: The outcome of this fluid dynamics simulation is the new design strategy for packages which resist maximum adverse conditions while interacting the disinfected gas recirculations properly inside the packages.
